OVERVIEW
|
CWHA’s
International Program efforts are designed to foster cross-cultural/
interdisciplinary education and technology transfer through
the mobilization of seasoned professionals to analyze
and respond to international issues and to make contributions
in forging policies, programs, and systems to foster the
growth and development of the circum-Caribbean region.

CWHA’s
International Program is registered as a Non-Governmental
Organization (NGO) with the United Nations Social and
Economic Council to participate in United Nations International
Conference. |
OBJECTIVES
The main objectives of CWHA’s
International Program are to provide a forum:
|
To enhance
professional skills by gaining a contextual, comparative,
interdisciplinary and transcultural perspective of critical
emerging international and hemispheric issues and their
impact and implications for the Caribbean region. |
|
To organize
and mobilize a select cross-sectional group of seasoned
frontline leaders (organizers, academicians, researchers,
business leaders, advocates, planners, policy makers,
and activists) in the US and in the circum Caribbean
region who are interested in the growth and development
of the region. |
|
To report
on multi-disciplinary and transcultural trends, their
impact on the region and regional interaction with broader
hemispheric and global dynamics. |
|
To exchange
ideas, formulate strategies and document experiences
among professionals and scholars. |
|
To facilitate
information sharing and networking between community
and professional groups, to foster grassroots organizing,
inter-agency planning, collaboration, coalition, and
partnership building. |
|
To support
multi-disciplinary studies and research projects, to
facilitate peer-reviews of scholarly and creative works,
and to foster their publication in scholarly and policy
advocacy journals. |
|
To disseminate
information from an interdisciplinary, cross-cultural
international perspective pertaining to policy, theory,
research, findings, best practices, and statistical
trends designed to enhance knowledge, enhance technology
transfer, enhance socio-economic development, and improve
practice and service delivery. |

To bring
together leading American and Caribbean professionals
and scholars: To facilitate the attainment of a new
and higher level of scholarly development and professional
advancement, foster cross-cultural programs, exchange
ideas, explore approaches for policy and programs changes,
formulate strategies for transcultural alternative modalities,
and engage in technology transfer and foster opportunities
for mutually beneficial collaborative ventures. |

To provide
technical assistance to, and work in partnership with
local, national and international agencies on cross-cultural
training, research, program development, public health
and migration related issues as a basis to foster educational
and information exchange, health policy formulation,
technology transfer, international cooperation, strategic
planning and priority setting as approaches to improve
regional development. |
|
To afford
college students an internship opportunity on the international
level to gain practical and professional experiences
under conditions conducive to career development. To
afford them an opportunity to build bridges between
theory and practice, to develop and improve skills,
to apply acquired knowledge, to test abilities, and
to gain first hand, practical, on-the-job experiences,
while making valuable community and/or professional
contributions. |
