CWHA'a Cross Cultural Program

CWHA’s International Program is designed to foster cross-cultural education and technology transfer through the mobilization of health professionals who have experience and expertise to analyze and respond to international health issues. In this context, CWHA has organized conferences and field study tours throughout the world and has participated in international conferences addressing global health issues. With this history, the organization is well positioned to make significant contributions in forging design and delivery of health programs, and health systems re-engineering in developing countries. The main objectives of the International Program are:
To enhance professional skills by gaining a contextual, comparative, interdisciplinary and transcultural perspective of critical international health issues and their implications for both users and providers of health care services.
To collaborate in initiatives that will expand the United States base of support for health programs directed to the Caribbean populations in the Circum- Caribbean region.
To bring together leading American and Caribbean health professionals and scholars to: foster cross-cultural programs, exchange ideas, explore approaches for policy and programs changes, formulate strategies for alternative modalities of service delivery, and engage in technology transfer and opportunities for mutually beneficial collaborative ventures.
To afford college students an internship opportunity to formulate specific international health issues project(s) to meet their individual needs and to prepare them for their future careers by gaining actual work experience outside of the classroom.

Provides technical assistance to, and works in partnership with local, national and international agencies on cross-cultural training, research, program development, public health and immigration related issues as a basis to foster educational and information exchange, health policy formulation, technology transfer, international cooperation, strategic planning and priority setting as approaches to improve health promotion.
Conducts International/Cross-Cultural Health Issues Field Study Tours for Health Professionals.
Represents the Caribbean Public Health Association in the United States.
