CWHA’s International Program is designed
to foster cross-cultural education and technology transfer
through the mobilization of health professionals who have
experience and expertise to analyze and respond to international
health issues. In this context, CWHA has organized conferences
and field study tours throughout the world and has participated
in international conferences addressing global health issues.
With this history, the organization is well positioned to
make significant contributions in forging design and delivery
of health programs, and health systems re-engineering in developing
countries. The main objectives of the International Program
are:
|
To enhance professional
skills by gaining a contextual, comparative, interdisciplinary
and transcultural perspective of critical international
health issues and their implications for both users and
providers of health care services.
|
|
To collaborate
in initiatives that will expand the United States base
of support for health programs directed to the Caribbean
populations in the Circum- Caribbean region.
|
|
To bring together
leading American and Caribbean health professionals and
scholars to: foster cross-cultural programs, exchange
ideas, explore approaches for policy and programs changes,
formulate strategies for alternative modalities of service
delivery, and engage in technology transfer and opportunities
for mutually beneficial collaborative ventures.
|
|
To afford college
students an internship opportunity to formulate specific
international health issues project(s) to meet their individual
needs and to prepare them for their future careers by
gaining actual work experience outside of the classroom.
